Corey,

What you didn't note was that, most of the players on D are out of position. I heard a rumor that the players were upset with Mangini for forcing the 3-4 on them. Ellis is a good Defensive End in a 4-3. D-Rob would be much better with Pouha next to him in the middle. If he was not double-teamed all day, D-Rob would be getting to the QB more often. I bet he would come into his own. Linebackers and Defensive Backs all do much better when the D-Line is doing their jobs - See the NY Giants. If we switch to the 4-3, I would draft Calais Campbell 6'8" 280lbs 4.8 40 out of Miami. We would have to revamp the whole defense to put together a good 3-4. Wake up, Mangini.

In spite of your brilliantly cogent and detailed synopsis of everything that is driving you,(and the rest of us),crazy...
You really didn't summarize it.
I'm going to summarize it for you now.
Whether it's restricting Rhodes to pure coverage, keeping Robertson as a central part of a 3 or 4 man-rush,or simply refusing to run
25-30xs(on the right side ...as you suggest).......this season can be summed up thus.....

It is not a failure of the players...but rather...

A FAILURE OF THE COACHES(other than Westhoff)TO FIND THE RIGHT SCHEMES THAT FIT THE TALENTS OF THESE PLAYERS.
Instead of playing the 3-4 and 4-3,we should be playing the 6-1 and 7-0.Then and only THEN,might Quarterback Granny Smith might have difficulties finding the open receiver

Hawkins can't cover anything more than a 3rd WR. The Pats played him at safety for that reason. They cut him because he was injured and couldn't practice. I'm not sure if he is 100% yet. If the Jets need a cover CB to replace Miller, James is the better bet of the two for that role. But not by much. As a player I like Hawkins much better, but I don't know if he would fit as a replacement for Miller.

the fallout begins. By the end of the year his own team will turn on him. Can't wait for The Rat to come up to Foxboro in December. By then the Pats will have best record sewn up, Little Bill will play all backups, win 38-14, walk accoss the field w/ a handi-cam to video the moment. Sad really. Used to have respect for the J-E-T-S under Edwards.
